I'm don't normally care to sew with knit fabrics as I don't have the proper machinery to make it look right and I'm very particular about how my creations look when finished. When I saw the tester call by Create Kids Couture for the Uma's Knit Woven Strip work High Low Dress and Tunic in GIRLS', DOLL'S and PLUS, I decided to try sewing with knit once more.
I'm so glad that I gave in. I was not disappointed by Create Kids Couture! I was pleased beyond words that all of the knit stitching was hidden within the garment. No topstitching necessary on the knit fabric...Wahoo!
As with all of Create Kids Couture's patterns, it was well-written and easy to follow with clear instructions and photos, and I loved it! The best part is that this piece of loveliness comes in almost any size that you could desire! 15" & 18" Doll, Girls' 6mo-8, Tween 7/8-15/16, Women's XS-XL, Plus 1X-5X.
Here are a few shots of the first Girls' Dress in size 2 for my little model, Miss A, and the matching Doll Dress.

Okay, I really, REALLY don't like pictures of myself but, alas, I will humor all of you with the completed version of the Plus Dress. When I was chosen for testing, I automatically knew what fabric I would use. A fabric that I've been dying to use... the Exploding Tardis (Dr. Who) fabric!
This is a great pattern for wearing your boots with! It was bitterly cold outside, but I braved the cold and did pictures. (Note to the wise: wear tights or leggings when wearing a skirt/dress in the snow. Brrr!)

I loved the first dress so much that I decided to make a second but this time using a store-bought tee for the top. It worked like magic!!! Since quality knit fabric can be difficult at times, the ability to use a store-bought tee works wonders! My next project will be to make the Top version as both of them have been dresses so far. Yay! |
