I don't usually prefer to sew adult clothing as adults have too many "shapes" to fit. However, I decided to take a leap of faith and test this classically designed Biscayne Blouse by Hey June. I'm so glad I did! I absolutely love the finished product. However, I have to admit that I wasn't brave enough to make it for myself, so I decided to recruit the help of one of my friends to be my model. :)
The pattern was amazing! I don't know why I was so intimidated by this innocent pattern.
I've been sewing for years, but this pattern was able to instruct me on a couple of sewing techniques that I hadn't done previously. The designer, Adrianna, was able to describe each process in a clear and comprehensive manner with images to coincide with the step-by-step instructions. One of these techniques was a placket in the front for a row of 3 hidden buttons. The second technique was a pocket welt with a functioning pocket. Yes, you read that right, the pocket works! A third technique she used that I was somewhat familiar with but had never had much opportunity to use, was the process of making French seams. All of these were were described in detail and came together to make a beautifully classic sleeveless blouse.
