I recall spending Summers with my mom at her work as a daycare provider and watching the epic episodes of McGee & Me. How Nicholas and his animated/imaginary friend, McGee, would have adventures that would instill positive behavior and qualities in children. Don't forget the entire line of Feature Films for Families! ...Caddie Woodlawn, Rigaletto, Borrowed Hearts, Christy, Girl of the Limberlost, Jacob Have I Loved, Return to the Secret Garden... these are just a few of my favorite Feature Films for Families movies.
If you've also been mourning the loss of such quality films that you can watch with your children without fear that they will see or hear something you'd rather they didn't, don't be disheartened. PURE FLIX ENTERTAINMENT has released a second installment in The Adventures of Mickey Matson! (Don't worry, if you haven't seen the first one, you can still enjoy this new release.)
I recently had the opportunity to review Pirate's Code: The Adventures of Mickey Matson, an action-packed film that is family-friendly! This great adventure film teaches the importance of Team Work in a way that kids and teens can understand, similar to the McGee & Me episodes of old, but in an updated, relevant way. In my humble opinion, this movie was better than the Disney Channel movies of late. I suppose the Disney Channel movies are okay, but they can be rather materialistic at times with the positive message getting muddied. Another great thing about this movie is that a few of the "bad guys" are actually redeemed before the movie is over. How great is that?!
Adventure, excitement, cool gadgets, pirates, a positive message...
